What is GW and NW?
Gross weight is the total weight of goods, including the raw product, any packaging, and possibly the vessel transporting the goods. Net weight is the raw weight of the product only without any packaging.
What is NW in weight?
The net weight refers to the weight of the product itself. For instance, if shipping raw material, the raw material’s weight will be the shipment’s net weigh. The container or packaging that the material is packed in does not count towards the net weight.
What is GW weight?
What is GW (Gross Weight) The full weight of freight, including the product and packaging. The overall weight of a containerized or packed shipment, calculated as the sum of net weight (weight of the item) and tare (weight of the container and packing material).
How do you calculate gross and net weight?
The net weight of an item is its total weight (known as the gross weight) minus the weight of any containers or packaging the item is in (known as the tare weight). For example, the net weight of a tin of flour is the total weight minus the weight of the tin.
What does GW KGS mean?
How do you calculate weight using height and width?
Dimensional weight is computed by multiplying length times width times height.
What is volumetric weight and how it is calculated?
Volumetric weight can be calculated by multiplying the length, width and height of a parcel (in cm) and dividing that figure by 5000 (some carriers use a divisor of 4000). You may often find that the price of your shipment is dictated by the volumetric weight of your parcel(s) rather than the physical weight.
Why do we divide by 6000 for volumetric weight?
If the cargo measurement are in centimeters, the total volume of cm3 to be divided with 6000. Air carriers charge airfreight on the basis of volume weight or actual gross weight which ever is higher. So the chargeable weight is calculated on the basis of volume weight or gross weight, whichever is highter.
What is the maximum weight for air freight?
| Aircraft | Equip Avail | Max weight |
|---|---|---|
| Airbus A330-300 (H) | 6LD7 + 4LD3 + Bulkhold | 21,000 kg |
| Boeing 747F (Freighter) | 29M1/9LD7/2LD3 | 95,000 kg |
| Ilyushin IL-76 | 101,000 lb | |
| Antonov An-12 | 44,092 lb. |
What is the difference between air freight and air cargo?
The main difference between the usage of the words freight and cargo is that any fees charged by the transport carrier are often called freight charges. Cargo, on the other hand, does not refer to the money charged, but instead only refers to the goods.
How is air freight cost calculated?
Airfreight shipment cost is calculated by the “chargeable weight.” The chargeable weight applied to a shipment will be either actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever number is greater. Therefore, dividing the cubic centimetre volume of a shipments (L x W x H) by 6000 will result in the volumetric weight.
What is the biggest advantage of air freight?
High level of security and reduced risk of theft and damage. Shipping by air offers the advantage of a high level of security, as the airport safety controls over cargo are tightly managed. Tightly managed airport controls also reduce the cargo exposure to theft and damage.
Is air freight more expensive than sea freight?
Air freight is best used when the cost of shipping is less than 15-20% of the value of the goods. Air freight is faster, safer and more reliable than ocean freight, but it’s also more expensive – a $195 ocean shipment can cost $1,000 by air.

In a typical season, air freight costs from China to the US range from approximately $2.50-$5.00 per kilogram, depending on the type of cargo you’re shipping and available space. Use this free calculator to get instant air cargo estimates and determine your air freight costs and rates.
Why is shipping from China so expensive now?
Shipping prices from China are skyrocketing. The surge in shipping costs is another result of the pandemic. When Covid-19 first hit China in early 2020, the country’s manufacturing froze. Companies dependent on China for finished goods or components suddenly faced a bottleneck in their supply chains.

Convert gigawatts to nanowatts
Calculate electricity usage and cost per hour, day, week, month, year and decade using this electricity cost and electric bill calculator.
How many nanowatts in a gigawatt:
If PGW = 1 then
PnW = 1.0 × 10 +18 × 1 = 1.0 × 10 +18 nW
How many nanowatts in 55 gigawatts:
If PGW = 55 then
PnW = 1.0 × 10 +18 × 55 = 5.5 × 10 +19 nW
